Four from volleyball earn All-Region recognition
Four members of the Northern Essex Community College women’s volleyball team were recognized as All-Region selections as chosen by the conference volleyball committee.
Haverhill, MA (October 31, 2022) – Four members of the Northern Essex Community College women's volleyball team were recognized as All-Region selections as chosen by the conference volleyball committee.
The four honorees include Kaithlene Perez-Flores (Lowell) selected to the first team for the second consecutive season. Caroline Burns (Haverhill) and Ashley Martinez (Lawrence) were both selected to the all-region second team, while Eliany Dejesus (Lowell) earned honorable mention.
Perez-Flores was a key cog on both sides of the net for the Knights as she was among the region's best from behind the service line as she averaged one ace per set. She had 212 digs on the season to lead the conference in digs and stepped in at the setter position when needed and provided 1.11 assists per set.
Martinez led the region in digs per set with 3.49 and finished just behind her teammate with 210 digs on the season and .114 hitting percentage. Burns was among the regional leaders in total kills with 127 for an average of 1.28 kills per set which ranked third in the region.
Dejesus averaged 3.91 assists per set as the team's primary setter which ranked third among region leaders.
For the season, the Knights finished fourth in the Region 21 regular season standings and made their sixth consecutive post-season appearance before falling to Community College of Rhode Island in the Region 21 Tournament semi-finals.
