Knights volleyball earns first ever top 15 national ranking
For the first time in the long history of the Northern Essex Community College volleyball team, the Knights are among the top 15 nationally ranked teams in the nation as they entered the week 6 poll in the #15 position as voted on by the NJCAA Volleyball Committee.
Haverhill, MA (October 2, 2023) – For the first time in the long history of the Northern Essex Community College volleyball team, the Knights are among the top 15 nationally ranked teams in the nation as they entered the week 6 poll in the #15 position as voted on by the NJCAA Volleyball Committee.
Following a 4-0 week the Knights now stand at a perfect 12-0 on the season as they picked up three Region 21 victories to go along with a non-conference victory over Southern Maine Community College.
Abigail Heredia (Lawrence) continues to lead the nation in in hitting percentage at .491 while Vielka Sanchez (Lawrence) ranks third nationally with two service aces per set.
The Knights lineup has also been boosted by the addition of Liz Exume (Chelmsford) who was a reigning Region 21 First Team All-Region selection a season ago playing for Massasoit Community College.
As a team the Knights are currently lead the nation in service aces per set with 5.92, are third nationally in hitting percentage at .355 and fourth in total service aces with 231.
