Kelleher strikes out 11 as Knights complete sweep of CCRI

Warwick, RI (April 6, 2026) – The Northern Essex Community College baseball team, ranked 11th in the week five NJCAA national poll released earlier today completed the season sweep of CCRI on Monday afternoon as the defeated the home team by a 12-5 final score. With the win the Knights remain perfect in region play at 6-0 while improving to 12-6 overall.

Jack Kelleher (Haverhill) picked up his fourth win of the season as he struck out 11 in seven innings of work, while allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits, while issuing two walks. JP Nowicki (Chelsea) and Justin Daniliuk-Poirier (Methuen) combined to strike out five over the final two innings.

NECC jumped out to a five run first inning advantage on a pair of home runs from Jack Alyward (Lowell) and Marbel Soriano (Boston) as they gave Kelleher plenty of support before he took the mound.

Seven of nine starters recorded multiple hits in the game led by a three for four performance from David Castillo (Boston) that included a pair of RBI's.

Jake Yngber (Miami, FL) recorded a two out, two RBI base hit in the seventh inning that would result in to the game winning hit as he drove in Owen Derocher (Berkley) following his double and an intentional walk issued to Castillo.

The Knights would add five additional runs in the final two innings as part of their 17 hits offensive onslaught.

The Knights are scheduled to play at Bunker Hill on Tuesday at 3:30pm.
