Haverhill, MA (April 15, 2026) – The Northern Essex Community College baseball team, ranked seventh in the week six NJCAA national poll, rolled to a dominate win on Wednesday evening as they defeated Bunker Hill by a 16-1 final score. The win improves the Knights to 17-6 overall and 11-0 in region play, while extending their win streak to 14 games.
Dominic Pefine (North Andover) picked up his second win in as many outings against the Bulldogs as he struck out eight in four innings of work, allowing just one run on three hits, while issuing three walks.
David Castillo (Boston) found his groove at the plate collecting three hits in his three at bats including a second inning triple that drove in a run for one of his three RBI's in the game.
Jack Aylward (Lowell) gave the Knights all the runs they would need when he drove in two first inning runs on line drive to left field that scored Castillo and Jaren Megan (Fairhaven). Aylward would collect two more RBI's as part of his two hit performance with a ball that stayed just inside the line in the second inning.
Kade Masselli (New Gloucester, ME) and Owen Derocher (Berkely) each recorded multiple hits in the game as well including Derocher hitting a fourth inning home run to left field as part a nine run fourth inning for the Knights.
NECC will return to the field on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Suffolk County in non-region action at Haverhill Stadium.
