#7 Knights slugs past SMCC for Tuesday win
The #7 NECC baseball team cranked out 10 hits on Tuesday afternoon including six of the extra base variety as they slugged their way past Southern Maine Community College by a 11-3 final at Haverhill Stadium on Tuesday afternoon
Haverhill, MA (April 21, 2026) – The #7 NECC baseball team cranked out 10 hits on Tuesday afternoon including six of the extra base variety as they slugged their way past Southern Maine Community College by a 11-3 final at Haverhill Stadium on Tuesday afternoon in non-region action. The Knights improve to 19-7 with the win.
After spotting the visitors a 2-0 lead in the first inning, NECC tied the game in the third when Josh Jones (Hampstead, NH) led the inning off with a walk and immediately scored when Jaren Megan (Fairhaven) sent a triple down the right field line. David Castillo (Boston) tied the game with a base hit to center on the first pitch he saw.
An inning later the Knights busted the game open with a five run fourth. Owen Derocher (Berkely) led the inning off with a double and scored two batters later on a sacrifice from Brooks Keefe (Marblehead). Megan, Castillo, Jake Yngber (Miami, FL) and Stephen Diaz (Lawrence) would all record two out RBI hits extended the Knights lead to 7-2.
Yngber and Derocher would both add sixth inning home runs that would plate the final runs of the game for the Knights who outhit the Seawolves 10-6.
Eric Bridges (Saugus) picked up the win on the mound as he struck out six in five innings of work, allowing two runs on five hits.
NECC stays home on Thursday as they return to Region 21 action hosting Quinsigamond at 4:00pm
