New Britain, CT (April 25, 2026) - At the CCSU Invitational, the Knights closed out their regular season with a strong showing, highlighted by multiple personal and season bests along with four additional NJCAA national qualifying marks, bringing their season total to 14.
On the women's side, the Knights placed 9th out of 14 teams. In the throws, Maci Abbatessa (Danvers) was 8th in shot put (10.44m) and 5th in the javelin (25.54m). She also placed 12th in the hammer throw (33.29m) and 13th in the discus (27.42m). Her throw in the javelin was her fourth national qualifying mark of the season.
On the track, the 4x100 relay team of Rachelle Torres (Lawrence), Mia Ruiz (Haverhill), Estephany Lizardo (Lawrence), and Janelis Uviedo (Nashua, NH) delivered a standout performance, finishing 4th in 58.19. Uviedo had an exceptional day, recording two personal bests while breaking her own school records in both the 100m hurdles (19.88) and 400m hurdles (1:16.57). Her effort in the 400m hurdles earned a 7th place finish. Lizardo also scored for the Knights in the same event with a personal best time of 1:33.25. Ruiz added to the team's effort with a 17th place finish in the 100m (13.74) and 15th in the 200m (28.18).
On the men's side, Derrick Pierre Paul (Lawrence) reached an NJCAA national qualifying mark in the high jump (1.80m). The 4x100 relay team of Milton Garcia (Methuen), Teriq Goodman (Worcester), Adriel Rosa Sanchez (Haverhill), and Aivyn Privitera (Haverhill) placed 6th in 45.41. Goodman led the Knights in both the 100m (11.71) and 200m (23.02), with his 200m time marking a personal best and earning a spot at the NJCAA national meet. Privitera also secured an automatic qualifying time in the 200m (23.45).
Rosa Sanchez ran a personal best of 54.59 in the 400m, while Cristian Moscat (Lawrence) also turned in a strong performance in the event. Akeem Knight (Lawrence) and Don Teguia (Burlington) showed improvement in the 100m, and Garcia dropped time from the previous week in the 200m.
The Knights will now turn their focus to the NJCAA National Championships, set to take place in Utica, New York May 7-9.
