Three from women’s Basketball named All-Region

Haverhill, MA (March 4, 2026) – Three members of the Northern Essex Community College women's basketball team were named All-Region as announced this week following a vote of the region's coaches. Rhaelyn Gutierrez (Methuen) earned her second straight nod to the All-Region First Team, while Shaneley Henriquez (Haverhill) and Kelsie Martinez (Lawrence) earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Gutierrez, who scored her 1,000th career point as a Knight in her final home game in the Region 21 Quarterfinal victory over Quinsigamond and finished her two years with 1,019 points. For the season she averaged 19.3 points per game which ranked second in the region. She also led the region in free throw shooting percentage at 78.5 percent.

Henriquez earned her first all-region award in her second season with the team as she had a break out season averaging 14.3 points per game which ranked fifth in the region. Rarely coming off the court she averaging playing 35 minutes per game this season and finished fifth in the region in steals with 68, while her 69.1 free throw shooting percentage ranked fourth in the region.

Lastly, Martinez who was playing her first season of college basketball after transferring in from UMass-Lowell averaged a double-double for the Knights throughout the season with 10.3 rebounds and 10.9 points per game. Her rebounding total was good enough to rank third in the region over the course of the season.

The Knights finished the season as Region 21 semi-finalist with an overall record of 14-12 and 10-4 in conference play.
