Haverhill, MA (September 11, 2025) – The Northern Essex Community College women's volleyball team opened up Region 21 play on Thursday evening and defeated MassBay by a 3-0 final score. The Knights improved their record to 1-1 on the season. The win also marked the first career coaching win for first year head coach Yemayma Molina.

The Knights swept the match with set scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-15 and were led on the attack by Cherly BritoRosario (Lawrence) and Faith Martin (Billerica) who had 10 and four kills respectively.

The duo of Rachelle Torres (Lawrence) and Jiana Melendez (Lawrence) combined to serve up 14 aces in the match with eight and six respectively.

BritoRosario had seven digs to lead the Knights on the defensive side of the net.

The Knights will return to the court on Saturday when they play host to Holyoke Community College at 11:00am
