Four score in double figures as #8 Knights rout Clinton

Haverhill, MA (January 11, 2026) – The Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team opened up the second half of the season on Friday night with a convincing 106-54 victory over visiting Clinton (NY) Community College to improve to 16-3 overall in their final non-conference contest of the season.

After getting off the slow start in the opening minutes, NECC took a 14-13 lead with 12 minutes to go in the first half and never looked back as they took a 57-28 lead into the locker room at halftime.

14 different players found the scoresheet with at least three points with four players scoring in double figures led by Alejandro Delgado (Haverhill) who recoded a game high 18 points. He was joined in double figures by Alex Johnson (Worcester) with 12 points, while Jay'von Depina (Brockton) and Jacob Mercedes (Salem) recorded 10 points apiece.

Delgado nearly missed a double-double as both he and Christian Sanders (Boston) grabbed a team high nine rebounds.

The Knights shot 41.8% percent from the floor and outrebounded the Cougars by a 59-39 margin.

The Knights stay home as they host Roxbury Community College on Thursday night at 7:30 in the Sport and Fitness Center.
