Delgado erupts for 32, #4 Knights score 65 second half points to run away from MassBay

Haverhill, MA (January 24, 2026) – The Northern Essex men's basketball team, ranked fourth in this weeks NJCAA poll improved to 19-3 with a convincing 111-75 victory over MassBay on Friday evening as Alejandro Delgado (Haverhill) scored a career high 32 points while recording to go along with 12 rebounds for his 17th double-double of the season.

After a back and forth first half, the Knights took a two point advantage to the locker room at halftime at 46-44 before erupting for a season high 65 point second half, while defensivly holding MassBay to 31 second half points.

Christian Sanders (Boston) recorded a double-double of his own as he pulled down 18 rebounds to go along with 19 points. Cristian Moscat (Lawrence) and Jay'von Depina (Brockton) both came off the bench and recorded double-digit points with 18 and 10.

As a team the Knights shot 50 percent from the floor and going a perfect 16 for 16 at the free throw line.

Alex Johnson (Worcester) and Moscat each grabbed three steals as parts of the Knights 16 steals in the game while Joan Vidal (Lawrence) dished out five assists.

The Knights win, combined with a Massasoit loss have the two teams tied in first place with 11-2 region records and scheduled for a showdown with first place on line Tuesday night at 7:30pm from the Sport and Fitness on the Haverhill campus.
